UN OCHA Warns of Severe Malnutrition Among Children Under 5 in Gaza
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, OCHA reported that approximately 26,000 cases of severe malnutrition among children under five were recorded in Gaza during July and August.
OCHA stated that this figure exceeds the total number of child malnutrition cases recorded in the first six months of 2025, highlighting a deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The UN body explained that out of nearly 95,000 children examined in August,12,800 suffered severe malnutrition requiring treatment. In July, over 150,000 children were assessed, with 13,000 identified as severely malnourished.
In Gaza City alone, child malnutrition rates have reached 19 percent-meaning nearly one in five children there are affected.
OCHA emphasized that these statistics reflect a worsening humanitarian crisis caused by ongoing conflict and blockade. They also indicate that children are bearing the brunt of food insecurity and limited access to medical services.
