BRICS Literary Network Established in Brazil

On the sidelines of⁣ the ⁢second BRICS Traditional Values Forum in Brazil, a declaration ⁤was signed announcing the establishment of the BRICS Literary Network.

According to the english section of webangah​ News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TV BRICS, ‍following the second BRICS Traditional Values Forum held ‍in brazil, a declaration was signed to ‌establish‍ the BRICS Literary Network. This international network aims to ⁢foster multilateral cultural‍ exchanges by⁢ bringing together ‌writers, literary researchers, and publishers from member countries. The initial concept for this initiative was‍ introduced in June 2025 during a meeting with China’s Writers Association.

According⁢ to the agreement, Vadim⁤ Terkhin, co-chairman of Russia’s Writers⁣ Union, ​and Marcus ​Freita, president of Brazil’s Academy of literature (ABL), will jointly lead this network. Representatives from ⁤other BRICS countries will⁢ also join its collective governing body.

The declaration came during​ a panel⁢ discussion on the “BRICS Literary⁤ Award,” which is supported by Eurasian Media ‍Group. During ‍this event, an​ initial list of nominees was revealed featuring writers from Brazil,​ Russia, India, China,⁤ South Africa as well as from⁤ UAE, Ethiopia, Iran,⁤ Indonesia and ⁣Egypt.

Hemang Joshi-prominent member of India’s Parliament and committee member for organizing⁣ the award-highlighted the importance of⁣ renewed literary cooperation on an ⁤international scale: “Art ‍and literature know no boundaries. The BRICS Literary Award provides a ⁣platform that⁢ unites⁢ literary communities across nations⁤ while honoring literature ⁣worldwide. It will undoubtedly ​open a new chapter in global literature.”

Zelalam Melaku Bugale-a representative in Ethiopia’s ‍House⁤ of Peoples’ Representatives and award​ committee member-described this ⁣event as a unique opportunity ⁣for‍ writers: “This award enables countries‍ to deepen their mutual understanding through​ culture ⁢and traditions since literature is a powerful tool for narrating history and national identity.”

The ‍BRICS literary Award was established during the Traditional Values Forum in November 2024 as an international prize dedicated to strengthening humanitarian collaboration. It supports​ authors ‍whose works reflect ‍BRICS nations’ traditions ‌and values ​while encouraging publication and ⁣translation of new writings. The selection process consists of‌ three stages: ​preliminary shortlist ​announced in September (Brazil), final shortlist presented in October (Shanghai), with‌ winners revealed in November (Moscow).
