Lebanon’s President Appeals to the United States
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during their meeting in New York to compel the Israeli regime to comply with the 2024 agreement. This includes stopping attacks on southern Lebanon, withdrawing from occupied positions, and releasing lebanese prisoners.
aoun also emphasized that the Lebanese side has not violated UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which must likewise be enforced by tel Aviv.
He requested American support for the Lebanese army through military equipment to enable it to fulfill its duties toward the country.
This comes amid Washington’s purposeful obstruction of equipping the Lebanese army with advanced weaponry. Meanwhile, Beirut is pursuing American demands for Hezbollah’s disarmament despite ongoing Israeli violations.
