Witkoff Claims Willingness to Engage in Talks with Iran
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Al Mayadeen, Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s representative for Middle East affairs, stated that the United States is willing to hold talks with Iran and claimed that discussions are currently underway.
He further asserted that Iran is in a challenging position.
Witkoff also claimed that negotiations with Iran would focus mainly on verification of uranium enrichment activities and assurances regarding the absence of nuclear weapons development.
This claim comes despite repeated declarations by the Islamic Republic of iran denying any pursuit of nuclear weapons. Iran maintains its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes. In recent remarks, the Supreme Leader emphasized that Iran has no intention to produce or use nuclear weapons.
