Trump: We Are Close to a Final Agreement on Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr news Agency and Al Jazeera, U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the White House and said: “Erdoğan is a highly respected individual who has built a very strong military for his country. It is indeed a great honor to host the president of Turkey at the White House.”
Trump added: “Turkey wants to purchase F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, and we will discuss this with Erdoğan. I am also trying to persuade Erdoğan to stop buying Russian oil. The best thing countries can do is stop purchasing russian oil. We may soon lift sanctions against Turkey, and if the meeting with Erdoğan goes well, those sanctions will be lifted immediately.”
Addressing the war in Ukraine, Trump said: “Putin must be stopped immediately. Russia continues its aggressive actions against Ukraine.”
On Gaza, trump stated: “The meeting on Gaza was excellent, and we are close to reaching an agreement.We held very good discussions with Middle Eastern leaders about Gaza and are nearing a deal for prisoner releases. Twenty prisoners are alive while 38 have died; we are close to signing an agreement concerning Gaza. We do not want the prisoners’ release from Gaza carried out in phases; rather, they should all be freed simultaneously.I have met with major leaders on this issue who all want the war to end as soon as possible. I need to convince Israel’s side to proceed with releasing the prisoners.”
The U.S. president also mentioned Syria: “I have lifted sanctions on Syria at the request of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar in order to give Syria some breathing room.”
