According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul asserted that the European Troika has offered numerous negotiation-based solutions to Iran, but Iran has not utilized them. As an inevitable result, broader sanctions will be imposed on the country.
He added: “In light of failed negotiations, we will impose sanctions more extensive than those previously enacted by the United Nations against Iran.”
The UK, Germany, and France have accused the Islamic Republic of iran of violating the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) and made unfounded allegations without mentioning the US’s unilateral withdrawal from the agreement in 2018 or violations by European parties. aligning with Washington’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran, they initiated a 30-day process to activate the UN Security Council’s snapback mechanism.
Today, the United Nations Security Council is set to vote on a draft resolution proposed by Russia and china aiming to delay reimposing UN sanctions on Iran for six months.
Reuters reports that all UN sanctions against Iran are scheduled to be reinstated from 8 p.m. US Eastern Time today.
