The United Nations Security Council convened⁤ to vote on a draft resolution aimed at delaying the reimposition of sanctions on iran, according to the English section of ‍ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr ⁣News Agency and Al Jazeera.

Britain,⁤ Germany, and France ‍blamed the Islamic Republic of⁤ Iran for violating the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA). They made baseless claims without referencing the unilateral U.S. withdrawal from the agreement in 2018 or violations by European parties themselves. Aligning with Washington’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran,they initiated ​a 30-day process⁣ to​ trigger the ⁣snapback mechanism.

Russia and China submitted a draft resolution to the Security Council calling for ‍delaying sanctions to allow room for diplomacy.

The⁣ resolution ⁣requires at least nine votes in favor out of 15 members and no vetoes from ⁣London, paris, ​or Washington during today’s Security Council vote.

Reuters reported that diplomats expect manny abstentions in today’s voting.

Russia: European Troika Pressures Iran Based on Falsehoods

The Russian envoy to⁤ the Security Council said‍ during today’s meeting that Europe’s troika pressured Iran based on lies. ⁢He added ​that Iran has committed to responsible actions and reached agreements with the International Atomic Energy agency (IAEA).

“I believe European countries shoudl‌ extend sanctions relief instead of escalating tensions,” he stated. “The United States ‍is responsible for the‌ current JCPOA situation.I ​urge European nations to vote in favor of extending sanctions waivers rather than stoking conflict.Today’s vote⁢ is Europe’s last chance⁣ to find solutions acceptable to⁢ all parties.”
