Pakistan to Mediate for De-escalation Between Washington and Tehran

Pakistan’s ‌Defense Minister said that given the ⁤close and brotherly ties​ with Iran, Islamabad‌ may play a role in‍ easing tensions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States.

According ​to the English section​ of webangah News ⁢Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, following Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s speech at⁢ the United‌ Nations General Assembly, told Pakistan’s Geo TV network: ‍”Fortunately, our relations with Iran have seen ⁤significant progress recently.”

He added, “Pakistan’s ⁤relationship ​with Iran ‌is‍ close and fraternal.⁣ We believe that any⁣ misunderstandings on certain issues have been resolved through mutual management between two neighboring ⁣countries.”

Referring to Shehbaz Sharif’s official meeting⁣ with ⁤Donald Trump at the White House and Islamabad’s efforts toward regional peace, the Defense Minister said there is​ potential for Pakistan ‌to contribute‍ to de-escalating tensions between Iran and the ⁣U.S.
