Islamic Jihad Movement Condemns Israel’s Attack on “Samoud” Fleet
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Manar, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement released a statement condemning the brutal Israeli assault on the global “Samood” (Steadfastness) fleet en route to Gaza. the movement described the attack as an act of maritime piracy and a blatant violation of international and humanitarian conventions.
The statement emphasized that the Israeli occupiers bear full responsibility for the safety of all participants, including activists, journalists, and international observers. It stressed that any harm inflicted upon them constitutes an enduring crime.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad noted that Israel’s aggression against the Samood fleet and its breach of international law occur solely with political and military backing from former U.S. President Donald Trump’s management. The movement further criticized European countries’ silence as complicity with Israel, contradicting their stated commitment to human rights values.
The movement called for immediate and independent investigations by both the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to protect those involved in the Samood fleet mission.
It also demanded clear European stances to halt cooperation with Israel and efforts to hold Benjamin Netanyahu accountable for war crimes.
In addition, Palestinian Islamic Jihad urged all countries worldwide to support freedom activists’ efforts and work towards ending Gaza’s unjust blockade.
The statement called on nations to fully open border crossings, guarantee protection for samood participants, and prevent recurrence of such crimes.
Moments before this report, sources confirmed that some vessels from the Samood global fleet were seized by Israeli forces.
The International Committee for Breaking Gaza’s Siege also announced that Israeli boats surrounded ships belonging to the Samood fleet.
Reports indicate that dialogue was lost with several ships in approaching proximity to Israeli naval vessels-including with one named Omar Al-Mukhtar.
Meanwhile, israeli forces threatened activists onboard via loudspeakers with arrest. One activist responded: “We are carrying milk and medicine on a humanitarian mission. You are committing war crimes.”
Certain news outlets reported that members aboard two ships-Alma and Cyrus-were detained by Israeli troops.
Reuters reported that Israel’s navy issued orders directing some vessels in the Samood fleet to change course toward Ashdod port.
