Haaretz Exposes Israeli Online Campaign Boosting Pahlavi’s Image

israeli‍ Media Sources Report ‌Funding⁢ of Tel Aviv Campaign promoting Reza‍ Pahlavi ⁤and His ⁣’Monarchy⁤ Restoration’‌ Narrative

The English section of webangah news Agency, citing ‌Mehr⁢ News ⁢Agency, reports that the Israeli ⁣newspaper Haaretz and Marker magazine have revealed a coordinated network based in the occupied ⁤territories. This network, ‌financed indirectly by the Israeli regime’s ⁢cabinet, ⁣has recently conducted ⁣extensive⁤ efforts too enhance Reza ‌Pahlavi’s ⁤image‌ and promote the⁢ demand for the “restoration of monarchy” across social media platforms.

The University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab has documented⁤ a ⁤separate but aligned network employing fake accounts and AI-generated ⁣content to convey israeli narratives in Persian to Persian-speaking audiences.

According to Haaretz, this network uses fake accounts on platforms like X and Instagram in combination with artificial intelligence tools to produce‌ and disseminate‌ coordinated content. It ‍also amplifies posts and statements by⁣ Gila Gamliel, Israel’s Minister⁢ of Details and a close ally of Reza⁢ pahlavi within the‍ occupied territories.

This political operation traces back to ‌Reza Pahlavi’s official visit to the occupied territories in early 2023, during which Gila Gamliel hosted‌ him.

Citizen‌ Lab’s research ‌further reveals that another network⁤ pursuing similar objectives operates⁤ online. Comprising dozens of fake profiles with AI-generated avatars, this second network began its activities ⁣in 2023 ‌with‍ notable intensification into ⁣early 2025.

Citizen Lab investigators found ⁢coordination between Israeli military ‌actions during the twelve-day conflict with Iran and this online campaign. For ⁢example, evidence suggests operatives behind this campaign were ⁤aware in advance of ‌Israel’s attack on Evin Prison and prepared related ‌content ahead of time.

The moast striking activity‍ occurred concurrently with Israel’s airstrike on evin Prison; at that moment, this fake account network started releasing pre-prepared⁤ videos and posts. Notably, one‍ video‌ purportedly showing ⁤Evin Prison during bombardment was later exposed⁢ as AI-generated fabrication.

Additionally, this network encouraged Iranians to visit prisons ‍intending to ‌liberate detainees. ‍It also ⁣played a‌ role in⁢ mobilizing protests calling for slogans against Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Further analysis by‍ Citizen Lab indicates⁣ these accounts maintain connections with several Telegram channels.

Although most accounts emerged during Iran protests in 2022, ‌their activity escalated sharply amid hostilities with Iran. This discovered propaganda⁢ apparatus relies heavily on fictitious personas masquerading ‍as Iranian citizens.
