In an article for The Daily Telegraph, Starmer wrote that Britain is ready to take a leading role in accelerating security guarantees for Ukraine. This support includes backing the Ukrainian military with commitments already amounting to at least $3 billion annually through 2030.
Starmer added that this leadership also means Britain is willing and prepared-if necessary-to station troops on Ukrainian soil in support of these accelerated security guarantees.
The Trump administration had previously stated that duty for Ukraine’s and Europe’s security lies with the European union due to Washington’s prioritization of border security and countering China.
