U.S. ⁤Treasury Secretary States in Interview: we Do Not Want to Decouple Economically from China; However, Risk Mitigation Is Necessary.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News⁣ Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary ⁢Scott Bessent said in a Sunday interview with Fox News that China’s attempt to impose restrictions on rare earth‍ element⁤ exports⁤ was a major mistake ‍that has put the country at odds with the world.

bessent further claimed that the U.S. is currently applying maximum⁣ pressure‍ on China and can reinstate tariff threats at any time. He noted that China has ‌experienced a ​decline in industrial production and is suffering from a severe real estate‍ crisis due to government policies under former President Trump. According to him,China has proven itself an unreliable partner in many areas.

Scott Bessent added he hopes that after reaching a new agreement with China, the U.S. can rely more on beijing and avoid economic decoupling but emphasized that risk ⁢mitigation remains essential.
