Bashmaq and Haj Omran Crossings Open on Iraq Parliamentary Election Day

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rodaw via Mehr News Agency, officials linked to the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that border crossings between the Kurdistan Region and both Iran and Turkey will be operational during tomorrow’s nationwide parliamentary elections in Iraq.
Sirwan hussein, spokesperson for the Haj Omran border crossing in Erbil province, said on Monday that commercial and tourist traffic between Iran and Kurdistan through this crossing will continue as usual on election day.
Marivan Karim, spokesperson for the Bashmaq border crossing on the Suleimaniyah-Iran frontier, added that this crossing would also remain open 24 hours a day for trade and tourism during election day, just like any other regular day.
The Ibrahim Khalil crossing-the only international gateway between Kurdistan Region and Turkey near Zakho-will also stay open continuously during elections. Zakho’s governor, Mushir Bashir, confirmed it will not close but operate around the clock throughout election day.
Iraq’s parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place nationwide tomorrow, Tuesday.
