U.S. Secretary of Defense: Operation “South Spear” Launched in Western Hemisphere

The US Secretary of defense,pete Hegseth,has ordered ​the launch of Operation Southern Spear aimed at targeting drug trafficking networks across the Western Hemisphere,according to the​ English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera.

Hegseth stated,”President Trump has issued a​ decisive action order,and the Department of Defense is executing it. Operation Southern Spear, led ‌by the Joint Task Force South and US Southern Command, aims to defend american soil by dismantling drug traffickers in the Western Hemisphere and preventing narcotics that threaten our citizens’ lives from entering our borders. The Western Hemisphere is America’s neighbor, and we will protect it.”

This announcement follows a CBS report earlier stating that senior Pentagon officials presented President Trump with new military options for Venezuela during a recent meeting. To date, the United States has conducted at least 20 operations ‌targeting ‌vessels in Caribbean and Pacific waters. these missions have resulted in over 80 fatalities.
