Dozens of Rape Cases Reported Against Women in Sudan

The Sudan Doctors Network reported 32 cases of sexual violence against girls in El Fasher within one week following the Rapid Support Forces’ assault, according to webangah News Agency.
The network explained that some assaults occurred after the Rapid Support Forces entered El Fasher, while others happened as victims tried to flee toward nearby stables.
It condemned the repeated incidents of sexual violence targeting women and girls in El Fasher and held the Rapid Support forces responsible.
The network described these crimes as clear violations of international humanitarian law, bordering on war crimes and crimes against humanity. It stated that developments in Sudan reflect widespread sexual violence and lawlessness in areas under Rapid Support Forces’ control amid a lack of protection and accountability mechanisms.
Holding the Rapid Support Forces fully accountable for these atrocities, the network called for immediate autonomous international investigations and urgent support for survivors and witnesses.
The statement also demanded unrestricted access for medical and humanitarian organizations to provide healthcare, psychological assistance, and legal support to victims without threats or limitations.
As the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023,the Rapid Support Forces have faced allegations of widespread rape and other atrocities in cities they attacked. On October 27 last year, after an 18-month siege, they launched an offensive capturing El fasher.
Last Friday, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution condemning atrocities committed by Rapid Support Forces in El Fasher. The council called for immediate investigations into these grave violations with guaranteed unconditional humanitarian access. It also condemned serious violations against international humanitarian law involving acts of sexual violence.
