Armed Group Kidnaps 11 People in Nigeria

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen via Mehr News Agency, police stated that about 30 armed attackers entered Ekiti late Monday night. After sporadic gunfire, they took hostages and fled through forest routes.
This incident occurred just 24 hours after the release of 38 people who had been kidnapped last week during a church service in Iruroko; three people were killed and several others wounded during that attack.
Reports indicate that this new assault has escalated tensions in Isaba and surrounding areas. Security forces, along with local volunteer groups, have launched a large-scale operation to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
In this context, former U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to deploy American troops to Nigeria if violence against Christians continued. He described the situation as a “massacre” and added Nigeria to the list of “countries of serious concern.”
The Nigerian government, though, denied allegations of mass killings targeting Christians and reaffirmed its commitment to religious freedom.
Nigeria is located in West Africa and is recognized as the continent’s most populous country.
