Araghchi: The U.S. Lacks the Will for Genuine Negotiations

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen and Mehr News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, currently visiting France, told France 24 on Wednesday night that the issue hindering progress in negotiations is not due to intermediary countries but stems from the United States itself, as Washington lacks the will to engage in genuine talks.
Araqchi also addressed a message from President Masoud Pezeshkian to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, stating it pertained solely to the matter of hajj and was unrelated to any mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington.
He added that Iran has full confidence in saudi Arabia.
the foreign minister described a recent Board of Governors resolution against iran as political and noted it failed to address attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
araqchi highlighted Iran’s defensive strength during a 12-day conflict, saying: “We demonstrated our defensive capabilities to the world and emerged victorious.”
He stressed that Iranian missiles struck their targets with precision, prompting requests for ceasefire from both the US and Israel-contrasting their initial calls for unconditional surrender early in the war.
The minister dismissed any possibility of renewed aggression by Israel or the United States against Iran. “I don’t think Washington or Tel Aviv want to endure those losses again,” he said.
In his conversation with France 24, Araqchi also addressed Lebanon-related issues, emphasizing: ”We have neither interfered nor will interfere in Lebanon’s affairs.”
He rejected claims suggesting Hezbollah has been weakened. “The group is not weakened; anyone who believes otherwise is miscalculating,” he asserted.
