China Supports Peace Efforts in Ukraine, Seeks Long-Term Agreement with Russia

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in Moscow, where he stated that Beijing supports efforts to establish peace in Ukraine. Wang Yi emphasized the continuation of strategic communication with Russia to further negotiations and sign a comprehensive and long-term agreement.
During the Russia-China strategic security talks, led by Shoigu and Wang Yi on December 2nd, both parties discussed the latest developments in the region and the world. The meetings occurred amid ongoing tensions in Ukraine, as various countries attempt to mediate an end to the conflict.
A meeting between a U.S. delegation, headed by Donald Trump’s Special Representative Steve Witkoff, and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place the previous night. Specific details of the meeting have not yet been disclosed. Prior to this, the U.S. delegation met with Ukrainian officials in Florida, a meeting described as productive by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
President Donald Trump unveiled his 28-point plan for resolving the Ukraine crisis several weeks ago, sparking extensive discussions among European and American officials. The proposed cession of parts of Ukraine to Russia remains one of the most contentious aspects of the plan.
