US Seeks Seizure of Tanker Carrying Venezuelan Oil

The United States Department of Justice has announced its intention to seize a tanker carrying crude oil from Venezuela, which was previously impounded along with its cargo last December.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that Washington is pursuing the confiscation of a tanker it detained last December, along with its cargo of Venezuelan crude oil. The tanker, identified as the ‘Motor Tanker Skipper,’ was carrying 1.8 million barrels of crude oil.
The United States had previously seized this tanker near Venezuela as part of its strategy to increase pressure on the country’s President, Nicolás Maduro. Since the commencement of sanctions against Venezuela, U.S. officials have pressured the Caracas government to grant American companies access to the nation’s oil reserves and to initiate reforms favored by Washington.
