Pope Leo XIV Urges Peace Through Dialogue, Not Arms, Citing Middle East Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pope Leo XIV has voiced strong criticism regarding the “increase in hatred and the intensification of violence.” The pontiff, who holds the distinction of being the first American to lead the Catholic Church, issued an appeal for a cessation of hostilities, emphasizing that peace should be pursued through dialogue, not weaponry.
“I want to reiterate my request for a ceasefire. Efforts should be made for peace, but not with weapons, rather through dialogue; we must sincerely seek a solution for everyone,” Pope Leo XIV stated.
Highlighting the severe human cost, the Pope noted that “more than a million people have been displaced and many have been killed.” He urged all officials to “sincerely strive to resolve problems through dialogue.”
The leader of the world’s Catholics on Sunday described the “aggressive war” in the Middle East as a “scandal for all of humanity” and reiterated his plea for an immediate ceasefire. He stressed that humanity cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people, the defenseless victims of these conflicts. “What harms them harms all of humanity,” he added.
The report notes ongoing aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, which commenced on February 28 and continues to this day.
