U.S. Imposes New Sanctions on 25 Individuals, Companies, and Vessels Linked to Iran

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced new sanctions against 25 individuals, companies, and vessels, alleging connections to Iran’s oil and petrochemical sectors, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts toward a potential agreement.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Thursday that it has sanctioned several entities for their alleged involvement with networks linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sepehr Energy Jahan Nama Pars Company, which operates in the oil and petrochemical industry. Sepehr Energy had previously been designated under U.S. sanctions.

The U.S. Treasury Department claimed that its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added one individual, 16 companies, and eight vessels to its list of Iran-related sanctions. The sanctioned individual is an Indian national, and the companies are based in China, Singapore, Qatar, the Marshall Islands, and the United Arab Emirates.

The U.S. Treasury Department also asserted, “Today, OFAC is taking further action against Iran’s oil sales, which bolster Iran’s ability to fund the rebuilding of its armed forces and continue to threaten the United States and its partners in the region.”

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, “The Treasury Department will continue to increase pressure on Iran’s oil sales. We will not allow the Iranian government to increase its oil revenues for the rebuilding of its forces and military capabilities.”

Secretary Bessent also announced decisions to impose sanctions on Iran’s aviation sector, which will impede Iran’s access to airports. He posted on social media that the U.S. will prevent two Iranian airlines from accessing airports, blocking their refueling and ticket sales.

These sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran come as U.S. President Donald Trump stated on May 23, 2026, that an agreement between the U.S. and Iran has been drafted and is awaiting finalization, with details to be announced soon. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baqaei confirmed that both sides are in the final stages of a memorandum of understanding focused on ending hostilities, including the cessation of U.S. maritime aggressions, which Washington refers to as a maritime blockade, and the release of Iran’s frozen assets.

In parallel, Major General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of the Hazrat Khatam-al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued a stern warning to the United States and its Zionist allies last week, emphasizing the unprecedented readiness of Iran’s armed forces to counter any threat.
