The FSB emphasized the severe security risks involved in discussing classified information via mobile devices.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced that foreign intelligence services have been engaged in espionage targeting senior Russian officials by leveraging their smartphones. The operation reportedly involved collecting information from the systems of Russian officials through the use of malware, with assistance from the capabilities of major international companies.

The FSB stressed that discussing confidential information over the phone or even in close proximity to mobile phones is unacceptable. The report further indicated that foreign intelligence services aimed to gauge public opinion in Russia through these smartphone-based operations. The data collection from the devices of Russian officials was described as a multi-layered operation.
