Israel Escalates Attacks on Southern Lebanon; Hezbollah Claims Foiled Advance

Israel launched fresh airstrikes on several towns in southern Lebanon, causing casualties and damage, while Hezbollah announced it had stopped an Israeli military advance in the border region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli forces have intensified their attacks on southern Lebanon, targeting the towns of Al-Qalila and Tibnin. Airstrikes also hit the towns of Zifta, Al-Sharqiya, Al-Bissariya, and Harouf.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that an Israeli attack on Jabal Amel Hospital in the city of Tyre resulted in four fatalities and 127 injuries, including 39 medical and administrative staff members.

Hezbollah issued a statement claiming to have halted the advance of the Israeli army and reported targeting an Israeli military vehicle during its withdrawal towards Rashaf.

In its statement, Hezbollah asserted: “In defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the Israeli enemy’s violation of the ceasefire and the attacks targeting southern Lebanese villages, which led to the martyrdom and injury of civilians, and in the context of continuous heroic resistance against the advance of Israeli forces in the town of Hadata, the Islamic resistance fighters targeted enemy army gatherings in the areas of Al-Balu’, Al-Qanatir, and Al-Mal’ab in Hadata with missiles and artillery shells from 10:00 PM Monday until 3:00 AM Tuesday, June 2, 2026, forcing the enemy soldiers to halt their advance and retreat.”

The statement further detailed: “During the withdrawal at 3:00 AM, resistance fighters detonated a bomb, after which the enemy carried out aerial and artillery bombardments in the area to provide cover for the withdrawal of its forces towards the town of Rashaf.”
