US Claims Seizure of Iran-Linked Supertanker in Indian Ocean

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United States military command responsible for the Indian Ocean and Pacific region has claimed that its forces carried out an overnight operation in the Indian Ocean to seize the unflagged and sanctioned tanker, Davina. This information was published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Reuters.
The US forces’ command stated in a hostile stance that they will continue their maritime law operations globally to disrupt networks that support Iran.
The United States had previously sanctioned the vessel in October 2024 due to its oil trade connections with Iran, according to published information. The Davina is a supertanker capable of carrying two million barrels of crude oil.
It has also been reported that this supertanker, also known as Lenore, was last sighted on Friday off the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
