Ofer Prison Tightens Restrictions, Inflicts Torture on Palestinian Detainees

The Ofer Prison administration has imposed harsh and humiliating measures on Palestinian prisoners, including restrictions on lawyer visits and surveillance, sparking concerns about their health and calls for an international investigation.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Ofer Prison administration has implemented severe and humiliating measures against Palestinian prisoners concerning their transfers and meetings with lawyers. This information was released by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office, citing reports from Al Mayadeen, which were originally published by the Mehr News Agency.

Palestinian detainees at Ofer Prison are reportedly subjected to constant restrictions, verbal abuse, and humiliating treatment during their movement within the facility. The Prisoners’ Information Office further stated that the occupation authorities have, for the first time, installed surveillance cameras inside the rooms designated for legal consultations at Ofer Prison.

Indications of a deteriorating health situation among prisoners at Ofer are becoming apparent, with reports of the re-emergence of infectious diseases within the prison. The Palestinian center announced that the Ofer Prison administration has reduced the duration of legal visits to just a few minutes, a move described as part of a policy to restrict Palestinian prisoners.

The report urges an immediate international investigation to address the violations occurring against detainees inside Ofer Prison.
