China and Switzerland Back Iran-US Talks Amid Diplomatic Progress

Beijing and Bern have both expressed support for the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, welcoming the constructive progress reported by diplomats in areas including maritime security and regional stability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today its endorsement of mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar, expressing hope that the United States and Iran will safeguard the momentum of the current process. The ministry stated, “We support the efforts of Pakistan and Qatar as mediators and hope the US and Iran will protect the acceleration of the current process.” This statement underscores Beijing’s commitment to facilitating dialogue in the region.

In parallel, Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs also indicated its positive reception of the developments. “We welcome the constructive progress in the negotiations between the mediators, Iran, and the United States, and we remain ready to support this process,” a spokesperson for the department stated. Switzerland’s active role as a facilitator in international diplomacy is highlighted by this continued offer of support.

Meanwhile, a U.S. diplomat speaking to the Associated Press reported observable advancements in talks with Iran. The diplomat noted progress across several key areas, including the establishment of mechanisms related to the Strait of Hormuz and a ceasefire in Lebanon. This confirmation from an American source suggests tangible steps are being made in the complex diplomatic engagements.
