Ex-Israeli Negotiator: Iran Secured Better Deal for Lebanon Than Lebanese Themselves

A former Israeli negotiator has asserted that Iran negotiated a more advantageous framework agreement for Lebanon with Israel than the Lebanese delegation managed, citing the Lebanese government’s perceived weakness and forfeiture of bargaining power.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a former Israeli negotiator in reconciliation efforts, Daniel Levy, has expressed disbelief over the recently signed framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel in Washington. Levy contends that Iran conducted negotiations on behalf of Lebanon, achieving terms superior to those secured by the Lebanese themselves.

Levy commented on the Lebanese government’s acceptance of the agreement, stating that they lacked leverage and had internalized a sense of weakness. He believes they relinquished the minimal bargaining power afforded by the understanding between the United States and Iran.

The Lebanese government signed the framework agreement with Israel last Friday, brokered by the United States. This accord reportedly grants significant concessions to the Israeli side. Notably, it acknowledges Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon and emphasizes Lebanon’s commitment to disarming the resistance in alignment with Israeli objectives.
