Armed Attack on Damascus Checkpoint Leaves Syrian Security Forces Injured

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian security forces reported an armed confrontation in the Douweilaa area, a suburb of Damascus, which led to injuries among several security personnel following an attack on a checkpoint.
The incident occurred when several armed individuals targeted a security forces checkpoint in the “Douweilaa” district, throwing grenades at the post.
Syrian media, citing security officials, reported that at approximately 5:10 AM this morning, authorities received information about an individual attempting to detonate a grenade near the “Kashkoul” checkpoint. The assailant was subsequently targeted and identified after his death as Daniel Riyad Dawood.
Security sources elaborated that the individual was traveling on a motorcycle with another person. Upon stopping at the checkpoint for a body search, Daniel drew his handgun and opened fire on the security forces.
The assailant died instantly when one of the grenades he was attempting to throw detonated in his hands.
Three security personnel sustained shrapnel injuries during the incident and were transported to a hospital for treatment.
