EU Plans Unprecedented Sanctions Package Against Russia for Autumn

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kaja Kallas, the European Union‘s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the bloc is finalizing the largest anti-Russian sanctions package in its history. Scheduled for rollout this autumn, the proposal is expected to expand the existing list of sanctioned individuals, companies, and organizations by 33 percent upon approval.
Speaking in an interview with Die Welt, Kallas emphasized the scale of the upcoming measures, stating, “In the autumn, I will present the largest sanctions list since the start of the war.” This initiative follows a broader trend of tightening international pressure on Moscow, with Kallas expressing optimism that EU policies will increasingly align with the legislative actions recently taken by the United States Senate regarding Russian sanctions.
The European Union previously enacted its 21st sanctions package against Russia this past July. Since that time, the union has continued to systematically add more Russian individuals and legal entities to its blacklist. Currently, the total number of entries stands at 3,100, a figure that represents an absolute record in the history of the European Union’s sanctions policy.
