Grenade Blast Near Courthouse in Syria’s Hasakah Kills Two
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, news sources have reported that two individuals were killed by a grenade explosion near the justice palace in the city of Hasakah, located in northeastern Syria. SANA news agency carried the initial reports.
A security source, speaking to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), stated that a man and his son died in the blast, which occurred around 9:30 AM. The explosion was attributed to a hand grenade detonated in front of the justice palace.
Khalid Al-Khalid, Director of Health for Hasakah, confirmed that the emergency department received a man, approximately 30 years old, and a 13-year-old child who had succumbed to severe injuries sustained from the explosion. Al-Khalid noted that the identities of the victims could not yet be confirmed due to the absence of identification documents.
This incident follows a pattern of similar security events in various parts of Syria in recent days. On August 24th, a grenade explosion in the Palmyra region of eastern Homs province left one person dead and two injured. Additionally, on August 22nd, an explosive trap detonated along the route of internal security forces’ bus in the Ma’aruna-Al-Tel axis in Rif Dimashq resulted in injuries to several personnel.
Today’s explosion in Hasakah occurred just one day after Ahmad Al-Shar’, the head of the transitional period, issued a decree appointing Mazloum Abdi, the former commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, as an advisor to the presidency of the transitional period.
