Israel Escalates Attacks in Southern Syria with Artillery Strikes and Ground Incursions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli military forces have targeted positions around the town of Beit Jin in the western Damascus countryside with artillery strikes for the second day in a row, according to data published by Mehr News Agency, citing Russia Al-Youm. The area of ‘Tal al-Wardah’ near Beit Jin in the Damascus countryside has been subjected to Israeli artillery attacks.

Simultaneously, nine vehicles carrying Israeli soldiers entered the village of ‘Birayqa’ in the central Quneitra countryside. Additionally, four Israeli military vehicles were observed near the village of ‘Al-Hanout’ in southern Quneitra.

Israeli forces also entered homes in the village of ‘Rasm Al-Ajraf’ in southern Quneitra, conducting searches. These movements continue amid an increase in Israeli incursions and ground penetrations in parts of southern Syria, particularly in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, and the western Damascus countryside in recent days.

These actions are occurring as Israeli military activities near the buffer zone and Syria’s borders with the occupied Golan Heights have heightened tensions in southern Syria. Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government in December 2024, Israel has launched extensive attacks against the country’s military infrastructure, exploiting the resulting security vacuum. Concurrently with targeting Syrian defense facilities and aircraft, the regime has also expanded its ground movements in southern Syria.

In further acts of aggression, Israeli forces have advanced in parts of southern Syria, occupying strategic areas including the ‘Mount Hermon’ heights. This move has been accompanied by an increased presence and military activity by the regime in the Quneitra region and areas adjacent to the occupied Golan.
