Mahdi Kaabi, a member of Iraq‘s Al-Nujaba movement, stated in a detailed interview with Al Mayadeen network that Iraq is not isolated from regional and international dynamics. Kaabi emphasized that political decisions within Iraq are significantly influenced by American political, economic, and security pressures. He added that the American project is predicated on normalization, and countering it requires a resistant Islamic initiative that opposes occupation and American influence.

The Al-Nujaba member further elaborated that the recent executive decisions rest with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, who must consider the perspectives of various factions. Consequently, Iraq’s decisions cannot be attributed to a single entity. Kaabi acknowledged the role of the Najaf religious authority in guiding Iraqis toward drafting a constitution and holding elections, highlighting its contribution to the nation’s political establishment.

He underscored that the weakening of resistance within Iraq forms a component of a more extensive project targeting the resistance axis in Lebanon, Gaza, Yemen, and Iran.
