Iran Communicates Terms to US Amid Ongoing Indirect Talks
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iranian sources have indicated that Tehran has communicated its terms to the American side after receiving fresh proposals via mediators, even as indirect contacts between Tehran and Washington continue. A political source in Tehran told RT that Iran transferred its conditions to the American party after Washington presented new proposals through intermediaries.
The source explained that after the cessation of negotiations due to American breaches of commitment and repeated failures in Washington’s military actions, the United States recently put forward proposals to Tehran through intermediaries. According to the source, given the repeated violations and constant shifts in American positions, Iran has also conveyed its conditions to the mediators.
While the source did not disclose the specifics of the American proposals or Iran’s terms, they confirmed that mediators are actively engaged in discussions with both parties.
Previously, Tehran had called on Washington to adhere to the commitments stipulated in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding in June. However, the Financial Times reported last week that the United States is now seeking a broader agreement that would encompass not only Iran’s nuclear program but also the Strait of Hormuz.
Ismail Bekaee, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Monday that military attacks by the United States and Israel on Iranian nuclear facilities are the primary obstacle to inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency. He held Washington responsible for limiting inspectors’ access, adding that the US is simultaneously using this issue to intensify pressure on Tehran.
Bekaee emphasized, “The ball has been in the American court for a long time. If Washington seeks to resolve this confrontation, it must cease military attacks, economic sanctions, and the naval blockade of Iran.”
He also described diplomacy as a dynamic and continuous process, noting that delegations from Oman and Pakistan have visited Iran in recent weeks, and representatives from Qatar held discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Sunday.
Majid Al-Ansari, the spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told CNN that Doha has presented several proposals and is exploring various scenarios to address the concerns of both sides.
Concurrently, Tehran and Muscat have announced significant progress in negotiations concerning the establishment of a temporary secure shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian officials have stressed that such an agreement does not signify the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to Washington’s claims.
