Lavrov: Moscow Interested in Resolving Tensions in West Asia

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan in Moscow on Tuesday, engaging in discussions about international developments. The meeting, as reported by Mehr News Agency citing TASS, focused on bilateral cooperation and global affairs.

Lavrov stated that Moscow and Riyadh will act in coordination within the framework of OPEC+. He further noted that both nations support the pursuit of compromise solutions for the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran. The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that Russia has numerous programs with Saudi Arabia, and their areas of partnership are expanding.

Addressing the situation in Ukraine, Lavrov reiterated Russia’s readiness for negotiations and expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s balanced stance on the conflict. He observed that the European Union and NATO continue their efforts to achieve Russia’s defeat, providing comprehensive support to Ukraine. Lavrov added that the European Union is striving to prevent the resolution of the Ukraine crisis from addressing its root causes.

The Russian official concluded by reiterating Moscow’s keen interest in resolving the tense situation in West Asia.
