Saudi Arabia Vows Defense Amidst Yemen Conflict, Eyes Diplomatic Solutions

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated the kingdom will not hesitate to defend itself and will utilize all available means to protect its interests, while emphasizing openness to diplomatic solutions with Yemen’s Houthi movement.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia‘s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow that the kingdom will not hesitate to defend itself against any attack and will employ all available tools to protect its interests.

Prince Farhan further emphasized that Saudi Arabia is leaving the door open for diplomatic solutions in its dealings with Yemen’s Houthi movement.

Referring to the escalating tensions with the Houthis, the Saudi Foreign Minister claimed that the movement has opened a door for itself that it cannot bear, asserting that the Houthis are attempting to transfer their internal problems in Yemen to Saudi Arabia. He alleged that the Houthis resort to violence whenever they find themselves in difficult situations, prioritizing inflicting further suffering on the Yemeni people instead of engaging responsibly in the political process.

Despite these assertions, Prince Farhan reiterated that the path of diplomacy remains open for engagement with the Houthis, indicating the possibility of resorting to political solutions to resolve the crisis.

He claimed that the Yemeni government in Aden has provided an opportunity for responsible negotiations with the Houthis, but the movement prioritizes its personal and factional interests over the interests of Yemen and its people.
