Commercial Ships Targeted in Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported several maritime incidents in the region. Data published by Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, indicates that multiple commercial ships navigating the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman have been targeted. At least one vessel near the coast of the United Arab Emirates experienced significant flooding after being struck by a projectile.

UKMTO stated that during ongoing military activities in the area, several commercial ships in the northern Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman were attacked and became inoperable. The center confirmed that it could not yet verify any human casualties and that investigations into the incidents are continuing. UKMTO has urged vessels in the area to increase their vigilance and closely monitor security conditions.

In one of the reported incidents, a cargo ship encountered severe flooding near the UAE coastline after being hit by a projectile. The vessel was observed listing at anchor approximately 45 kilometers, equivalent to 24 nautical miles, northwest of Rashid Port. UKMTO received the report of this incident from a third party and has not provided further details regarding the type of projectile or the perpetrator of the attack.

These incidents occur amid heightened security risks in the maritime routes of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, largely attributed to escalating regional conflicts. Reports from UKMTO suggest that the recent attacks were not isolated, affecting multiple commercial vessels.
