Yemeni Forces Seize Strategic Port of Mokha, Deal Blow to Saudi-Led Coalition
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yemeni resistance forces, including the armed forces and Ansarullah, have made stunning gains in their fight against Saudi forces and their mercenaries. Following the liberation of the port of Mokha, these forces targeted Saudi-backed mercenary positions on the Zaqar, Little Hanish, and Great Hanish islands located at the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab strait with missile and drone attacks. These islands have since been liberated.
Yemen’s Deputy Minister of Information, Muhammad Mansour, stated that Yemeni resolve prevailed with the control of Mokha port, shattering Saudi Arabia’s illusions. He added that Israel and the American plan in the region have been defeated with the recapture of Mokha. Mansour emphasized that Yemen is their land and Bab al-Mandab has been under the control of the armed forces even before Mokha’s recapture, asserting the armed forces’ determination to liberate all of Yemen and restore the rights of its people. He further noted that Arab regimes are in a state of indescribable terror, presenting themselves as instruments of the Zionist regime. The Yemeni official stressed that the siege on Yemen will end only when the Emirati and Saudi occupiers withdraw, and pointed out that the hidden conflict between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh has become evident, with victory in Hudaydah being a victory for the entire resistance axis.
Sana’a’s Minister of Defense, Muhammad Nasser al-Atefi, visited recently liberated areas on Yemen’s west coast, reaffirming the commitment to continue the fight for the liberation of remaining parts of the country. Images of al-Atefi in operational areas have cast doubt on previous claims of his assassination.
Al Jazeera reported that the primary objective of Ansarullah and the Yemeni armed forces in their recent operations against the Saudi-backed government and mercenaries was to capture the strategic city of Mokha. Control of Mokha would significantly enhance Yemen’s influence along Bab al-Mandab, a vital international shipping and trade route. The Yemeni fighters also aim to cut off supply routes for Saudi-backed mercenaries, including the road between Mokha and Taiz, supply lines from the south of Mokha, and logistics through the port of Mokha, a key hub on the west coast. The capture of Mokha, if consolidated, would deprive these forces of significant military and logistical capacity while strengthening the position of the Yemeni armed forces near Bab al-Mandab. Consequently, Ansarullah and Yemeni armed forces are advancing south from Mokha with minimal resistance, as Saudi-backed mercenaries have reportedly withdrawn from their positions. Continued progress could allow Yemeni forces to seize more territory along the Yemeni coast and move closer to Bab al-Mandab.
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement asserting that Saudi Arabia’s continued aggression necessitates a response until it ceases. The statement affirmed that the Yemeni armed forces are committed to defending the country’s sovereignty, protecting civilians, and targeting sources of attack in accordance with international law. The ministry highlighted that increased Saudi military movements in Yemen have made a response by the armed forces necessary, and that Saudi Arabia’s constant complaints are an attempt to cover up its continuous crimes against the Yemeni people, including hundreds of airstrikes. The statement also declared that Yemen has never been and will not be a source of threat, seeking relations based on mutual respect and readiness to be part of the region’s security system. The Ministry called on the international community to objectively review the events and compel Saudi Arabia to stop targeting Yemen, violating its sovereignty, and plundering its wealth and resources.
Mohammed Abdulsalam, head of Sana’a’s negotiation delegation, commented on recent tensions, stating that the Saudi government should have responded to the morning’s appeal instead of escalating tensions and committing crimes. He added that the Saudi government continues to insist on misleading global public opinion through false narratives for intimidation and blackmail.
The official Yemeni News Agency (SABA) reported that Saudi fighter jets conducted 70 airstrikes in the past hours targeting areas in the provinces of Taiz, Jawf, Marib, Hudaydah, Sa’dah, and Bayda.
