UAE Presidential Advisor Comments on Iran President’s Meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince

Anwar Gargash, a UAE Presidential Advisor, has responded to the meeting between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed during the BRICS summit, emphasizing the UAE’s dual approach of deterrence and diplomacy.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Anwar Gargash, a political advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, reacted to the meeting between Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. Gargash shared his thoughts via his X account.

Gargash stated that the meeting between Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as part of his engagements with leaders of participating countries, reflects the UAE‘s strategy built on two pillars: deterrence and diplomacy. He asserted that neither pillar is effective without the other.

He further elaborated that deterrence enhances the credibility of diplomacy, and diplomacy can only succeed when initiated from a position of equality and capability. This approach, he explained, ultimately shapes the most effective path toward achieving stable and lasting regional security.

Gargash also noted that President Pezeshkian has adopted balanced and rational stances and made statements during the ongoing crisis. He emphasized that these positions cannot be overlooked during this sensitive period.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met and held discussions with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, during his attendance at the BRICS summit.
