Strait of Hormuz Witnesses Over 80% Drop in Vessel Traffic Amid US Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, maritime data indicates a significant drop in vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday, only three ships passed through the strait, a figure that had reached five ships on Monday. Reuters reported that four vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, a sharp decrease from the daily average of 18 ships recorded over the previous ten days. This marks a reduction of more than 80% in maritime traffic compared to the preceding ten-day period.

MarineTraffic confirmed that only one liquefied natural gas carrier and two cargo ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz. One of these cargo ships was flying the Iranian flag. The decrease in shipping activity is attributed to U.S. actions against Iran and the country’s regional provocations in the Persian Gulf, which have disrupted maritime movements.
