Iran Official States US Calculations Wrong, Warns of Decisive War
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran‘s Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Mohsen Rezaei, told Al Jazeera that the U.S. President’s assessments and calculations concerning Iran were incorrect, and that the war was initiated at the provocation of Netanyahu. He added that it is in Washington’s best interest to accept Iran’s conditions for ending the war, asserting that Trump’s threats will not yield any results and that Iran is prepared for a decisive conflict.
Rezaei further stated that Iran is aware of the U.S. military’s weaknesses and is more prepared than ever to counter its aerial attacks. He noted that Iran has decided to alter its strategy towards Washington following the latter’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He also revealed that Iran recently test-fired an anti-ship missile near a U.S. aircraft carrier, emphasizing that Iran is serious about self-defense and will target U.S. bases and interests in the region with greater force if attacked.
The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed that consultations are ongoing with Qatari and Pakistani mediators, to whom Iran has conveyed its terms for negotiation. He indicated that Iran is in contact with a Qatari intermediary who relayed Iran’s conditions to Washington with the aim of stopping the war, and that Iran awaits a response from President Trump. Iran’s demands include an end to the war on all fronts, the release of its blocked assets, and the cessation of the naval blockade.
Rezaei added that the actions of the United States and Israel could lead Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). However, he clarified that no decision has yet been made to leave the NPT, and that the matter is contingent on Washington’s behavior. He asserted that Iran still adheres to the fatwa of the late Supreme Leader and has not changed its nuclear doctrine, but acknowledged uncertainty about future developments.
Regarding the war in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, Rezaei expressed Iran’s desire for an end to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, believing that the Yemenis also seek an agreement with Saudi Arabia.
