Donald Trump Faces Significant Decline in Political Influence, Reports Los Angeles Times
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the American newspaper Los Angeles Times has reported that Donald Trump is experiencing a significant decline in his political influence. This influence is reportedly waning daily among a large majority of Americans, including a growing number of Republicans and foreign leaders, to the extent that he has become “a cartoon character who constantly posts humorous material on social media” or seeks attention from diminishing numbers of cameras.
The newspaper added that the past week witnessed a series of setbacks for Trump; however, diplomats remained silent during his annual speech at the United Nations. During this period, the Federal Reserve increased interest rates to combat inflation caused by his tariffs.
The publication pointed to escalating internal dissent within the Republican Party in the United States, noting that Maria Elvira Salazar, a representative from Florida, accused Trump of extremism in immigration policies and disappointing his Latino supporters. Furthermore, Republican Senate candidates in Iowa and Michigan called for an end to his unsuccessful war against Iran.
The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, himself a Republican, severely criticized Trump during a Senate session, accusing him of capitulating to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Meanwhile, a Republican senator from Nebraska called for an investigation into Donald Trump Jr. regarding business dealings and a wedding ceremony reportedly financed by a Russian magnate.
The newspaper further stated that the latest polls indicate an unprecedented drop in Trump’s popularity. A CNN poll reveals that two-thirds of Americans are dissatisfied with Trump’s performance and believe Washington is failing in its war against Iran. Concurrently, a Fox News poll found that two-thirds of voters believe he has worsened the economic situation.
The report detailed how foreign leaders are disregarding Trump’s international exaggerations, and traditional allies in Europe, Canada, and Asia are seeking to establish new, independent relationships from the United States, which has become “unreliable.” This is particularly evident after Washington confiscated Venezuela’s oil and its revenues, thereby exceeding the international legal norms governing the global order since World War II.
The report concluded by referencing Trump’s visit to Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House, adding that four months after the Chinese press described Trump as a “limping giant” for his war against Iran, which drained American reserves, the Chinese president is now meeting with a man who “no longer appears to be a giant.”
