Former French President Hollande Warns of Existential Crisis for Europe
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, former French President François Hollande has stated that Europe is confronting an existential crisis. In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Hollande addressed the current situation in Europe and the upcoming presidential elections in France, asserting that the continent is grappling with fundamental challenges.
He further cautioned that Europe finds itself in an increasingly threatening and perilous world, emphasizing that the French elections will significantly shape the future of European integration and the global balance of power.
The former French president remarked, “France in 2027 will bear little resemblance to the France I led. We are facing a more threatening, more dangerous, and more brutal world, and the European continent has become a target for powers such as the United States, China, and Russia. Europe is facing an existential crisis.”
Hollande indicated that he might consider running for president in 2027, but only if he believes he has a genuine chance of winning.
Hollande, who is 72 years old, served as the President of France from 2012 to 2017. The next presidential election in France is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2027.
