EU Parliament Member Criticizes Brussels’ Russia Policy as Counterproductive

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Luxembourg representative in the European Parliament has characterized the European Union‘s current policy towards Russia and its efforts to isolate Moscow as “illogical and counterproductive.” Fernant Kartheiser, a member of the European Parliament from Luxembourg, stated this in remarks citing information from RIA Novosti, which was published by the Mehr News Agency.
In an open letter addressed to Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, Kartheiser argued that the continued policy of severing ties with Russia deprives the EU of a portion of its diplomatic influence and its capacity to play a role in the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine war.
He emphasized that the European Union can no longer sustain a policy of Russian isolation and called for the resumption of parliamentary contacts and discussions with Moscow. The European Parliament member further stated that mutual understanding and constructive engagement can only be achieved through dialogue, and that the European Union must re-establish its communication channels with Russia.
