Hezbollah Prepared for National Security Strategy Talks Post-Israeli Withdrawal

A senior Hezbollah official has stated the party’s readiness to engage in discussions regarding a national security strategy, contingent upon an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory. The official also criticized the Lebanese government’s handling of war damages and its approach to national issues.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the Loyalty to Resistance bloc in the Lebanese Parliament, emphasized Hezbollah‘s unwavering support for Gaza, citing it as the “lung” of the Palestinian enclave. He affirmed that Hezbollah is fulfilling its responsibility in this regard and cannot remain indifferent to the widespread killings in Gaza, a stance he noted aligns with the principles of past resistance leaders.

Fadlallah revealed that Hezbollah has a comprehensive plan to alleviate pressure on the Lebanese populace, which will be announced soon. While he declined to disclose the exact financial figures of Hezbollah’s aid to war-affected individuals, citing potential shock to American officials, he criticized the Lebanese government’s response to war damages, stating the movement expects practical action. He pointed to delays in the disbursement of a World Bank loan intended for war damage assessment, suggesting intentional procrastination.

Hezbollah has proposed to Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati the division of reconstruction efforts into various sectors, but acknowledged a persistent and unexplained slowness in addressing damages. Fadlallah indicated that despite available government funds, deliberate shortcomings are occurring. Discussions have also taken place with the Lebanese President’s advisor regarding a strategy to counteract the designation of the resistance as illegal.

Addressing Lebanon’s political landscape, Fadlallah noted that Hezbollah was nearing internal solutions before a sudden shift towards a “framework agreement” with Israel. He asserted that no individual or entity should have authority over the Lebanese army and accused Lebanese officials of ceding control to Israel. He questioned the feasibility of governing the country while antagonizing half its population and raised concerns about the President’s ability to continue his term amidst the current stalemate.

Regarding the “framework agreement,” Fadlallah described its management as narrowly focused on signing, devoid of calm, expert deliberation, or consultation. He stressed that dialogue requires conducive conditions to avoid counterproductive outcomes, reiterating Hezbollah’s support for understanding despite experiencing hardships.

Fadlallah stated that Hezbollah is prepared to discuss the national security strategy once Israel withdraws. He urged Lebanese officials to establish a functioning government in southern Lebanon capable of protecting its people before discussing the monopoly on weapons, decisions on war and peace, and government authority. He argued that if the government cannot protect its citizens, it has no right to prevent them from defending themselves.

In conclusion, Hezbollah expressed its desire to maintain normal relations with the Free Patriotic Movement and is ready for cooperation.
