German Chancellor Pledges Over $1.3 Billion in Military Aid to Kyiv

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has pledged €1.3 billion in military assistance to Ukraine during a visit to Kyiv, meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The aid package aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities and support its energy sector.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on Saturday a commitment of €1.3 billion in military aid for Kyiv following his visit to the Ukrainian capital and a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Reuters reported that the German Chancellor also pledged an additional €350 million to support Ukraine‘s energy sector.

The substantial aid package is slated to include provisions for the joint production of drones capable of intercepting jet drones, as well as missiles with a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, and satellite technologies. Chancellor Merz reiterated a call for an end to the conflict, stating, “From here, I can only repeat once more: Putin, end this meaningless war. We are ready for dialogue and negotiation to end this war, but these brutal attacks against Ukrainian civilians must stop.”
