Iraqi Lawmaker Highlights Issues with Oil Funds Transfer to US

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an Iraqi Member of Parliament has highlighted significant challenges concerning the transfer of Iraq’s oil revenues to the United States. Ahmad al-Mousavi, a member of the Iraqi Parliament, emphasized that while Iraq has no issue cooperating with American and non-American companies, contracts must be structured on the basis of mutual benefit and partnership.
Al-Mousavi further stated that Iraq opposes any form of dominance by companies or nations, including the United States. He asserted that the country’s economy should not be contingent on foreign will. He pointed out that one of the most critical issues in the Iraq-U.S. relationship pertains to Iraq’s oil funds held in the U.S. and Washington’s actions concerning these funds, which he believes call into question Iraq’s economic independence.
The parliamentarian urged the Iraqi government to take action to resolve this situation, noting that Iraq has settled its debts and should be recognized as a sovereign nation. He warned that the continuation of current circumstances could intensify existing pressures on the country’s economy. Al-Mousavi concluded that following the withdrawal of foreign forces, the time has come to achieve economic sovereignty.
