Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the ongoing conflict concerning Iran is having a profoundly negative impact on the global economy, expressing deep concern over the situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region.

Lavrov made these remarks to reporters after a meeting with East Timorese Foreign Minister Bendito Freitas. “We exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East (West Asia), including the Persian Gulf region,” he stated. “We also discussed the prospects for achieving a diplomatic agreement regarding the current situation between Iran on one side, and the United States and Israel on the other.”
