Yemeni Missile Strikes Inflict Significant Damage on Saudi Aramco Refinery, Revealing Riyadh’s Information Blackout

Recent video footage offers irrefutable evidence of extensive damage to Saudi Aramco’s Rabigh refinery following a Yemeni missile attack, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to conceal the true impact of such assaults on its vital energy infrastructure.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, video evidence recently released from the Ansar Allah missile attack on the Saudi Aramco oil refinery in the Rabigh region confirms the broad scale of damage inflicted upon this strategic Saudi Arabian oil facility. These images also expose Saudi Arabia’s attempts to obscure the damages and casualties resulting from the missile strikes by Yemeni armed forces on critical Saudi infrastructure.

The Rabigh refinery, affiliated with Saudi Aramco and connected to the Rabigh refining and petrochemical complex, is recognized as one of the most prominent industrial and oil facilities on the Red Sea coast. This center possesses substantial capacity for oil refining and the production of a wide array of petroleum derivatives and petrochemical materials. Its strategic location near the city of Jeddah and the integration of its products into extensive downstream industrial and consumer supply chains further enhance its significance.

The refinery’s processing capacity is approximately 400,000 barrels per day. Its annual production capacity is estimated at over 18.4 million tons of petroleum products and 2.4 million tons of ethylene and propylene derivatives. These products serve as raw materials for end-user goods such as plastics, detergents, lubricants, oils, antifreeze, paints, carpets, ropes, clothing, shampoos, automotive interiors, adhesives, insulation, films, fibers, household appliances, packaging materials, waxes, pipes, and numerous other applications.

The total cost for the construction and development of this refinery was approximately 10 billion US dollars. Recently, the facility was targeted by Yemeni armed forces using missiles and drones, resulting in a large-scale fire. According to satellite imagery from NASA and the FIRMS system, a tall plume of smoke, extending over 60 kilometers in length, was observed emanating from the refinery fire following the incident.
