Macron Calls for Emergency Meeting Amid Escalating French Protests

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an extraordinary cabinet meeting to address the escalating domestic protests gripping the nation, as clashes and arrests continue.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency citing Anatolia, French President Emmanuel Macron has requested an emergency meeting with several ministers to discuss the ongoing developments amidst intensifying domestic protests over the past few days.

The Prime Minister and the Minister of National Education are expected to attend this meeting. In response to the crackdown on protesters, the French Prime Minister claimed that no political orders were issued for their suppression. Without referencing the police’s actions towards students, he added that while incidents may occur, they are not systematically organized.

Yesterday, the French Ministry of Interior announced that during Tuesday’s protests, which saw 256,000 participants nationwide and 56,000 in Paris, 488 individuals were arrested, and 43 police and security personnel were injured. These protests are part of a broader movement led by high school students. Organizers, however, claimed that 450,000 people participated in the rallies across France, with 100,000 protesters gathering in the nation’s capital.
