Gaza Crisis: Thousands Dead and Injured in Three Years of Israeli Actions, Ministries Report

A grim tally of casualties and societal impact has emerged from Gaza, with Palestinian health and social development ministries reporting tens of thousands dead and injured, alongside widespread orphanhood and female-headed households following three years of conflict since October 7, 2023.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has released devastating statistics marking the third anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation by Palestinian resistance groups. Between October 7, 2023, and the present, the ministry reported that 74,250 Palestinians have been martyred and 175,278 have been injured by the Israeli regime’s genocidal war.

Further data indicates that since the ceasefire agreement on October 11, 2025, 1,467 Palestinians have been martyred and 5,161 injured. Additionally, the bodies of 836 martyrs have been recovered from under the rubble and various areas during this period.

The Ministry of Social Development in Gaza highlighted the extensive social consequences of the Israeli regime’s actions, stating that 71,846 children have lost one or both parents. The number of widows in the Gaza Strip has reached 64,413, with approximately 86,000 families now headed by women, representing nearly a quarter of all families in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry also reported that 118,876 elderly individuals in Gaza are living in exceptional circumstances due to repeated displacement, loss of homes, cessation of medical services, and difficulties accessing medicine and treatment. The number of patients and individuals with disabilities has reached 16,963, with severe injuries and amputations escalating the need for rehabilitation services, physiotherapy, prosthetics, and assistive devices.

A significant portion of the population, over 1.2 million people, face crisis-level or more severe food insecurity. The number of families registered with the national relief system requiring aid has climbed to 530,000.

The Ministry of Social Development urgently called upon the international community and aid organizations to provide immediate and sustainable funding for social support programs, to support orphaned children and bereaved families, and to rebuild social support networks.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education announced that since October 7, 2023, 21,806 students and educational staff have been martyred in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Dozens of schools, universities, and educational buildings have been destroyed over three years of war and Israeli attacks.

In the Gaza Strip alone, over 19,189 school students and 1,386 university students have been martyred. Additionally, 28,586 students and 3,082 university students sustained various injuries. In the West Bank, 134 students and 39 university students were martyred, with 871 students and 283 university students injured. Some 416 schoolchildren and 481 university students were arrested by Israeli forces.

The ministry also reported that 805 school staff members and 246 university professors and staff were martyred in Gaza. Furthermore, 3,298 school staff and 1,493 university staff and faculty were injured. In the West Bank, 7 school staff members were martyred and 26 injured. The Israeli regime also arrested over 176 teachers and school employees, and 21 university staff.

Regarding educational institutions, the Israeli regime has completely destroyed over 179 public schools in the Gaza Strip and bombarded and devastated more than 105 schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Over 63 university buildings in Gaza have also been completely destroyed.

Concurrently, the Israeli Army Radio released its own figures on casualties and damages since the war’s inception. It reported that 1,318 Israeli army and security forces personnel and 1,029 settlers have been killed. Among the deceased settlers, 778 were killed on October 7, and 251 were killed thereafter.

The radio also stated that 251 individuals were taken captive to the Gaza Strip on October 7, all of whom have since been returned. Approximately 40 of these captives died during their detention, and their bodies were returned to occupied territories.

According to these statistics, around 30,000 Israeli army and security forces personnel have been injured since the war began, with approximately 63% suffering from psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder.
